German Bratwurst vs Beer Bratwurst

By Chef Luca · Updated 11 September 2026

Both are pork bratwurst that I would happily put in a crusty roll with mustard. Our Beer Bratwurst has Chang Cold Brew Beer in the recipe, along with pepper and aromatic spices. Choose the German version for our straightforward bratwurst option, or the beer version when you want to try that different seasoning.

What makes ours a beer bratwurst?

The beer is part of the sausage recipe. This is different from taking a sausage and simmering it in beer at home. You do not need to add beer to cook our Beer Bratwurst. Both current packs contain 500g with five links.

Which one should I choose for a BBQ?

Choose either for mustard, sauerkraut and bread. When I am comparing them, I keep the topping the same so the seasoning difference is easier to taste. For a sit-down meal, I like German Bratwurst with mustard mash and the Beer Bratwurst with warm potato salad. The vinegar in the salad gives the rich pork a useful sharp edge.

Do they need different cooking methods?

Both require cooking and use the same fresh-sausage approach. Thaw in the refrigerator, start with controlled heat and turn without piercing the casing. A grill should have a cooler area to finish the centre if the outside is browning quickly. You do not need to boil either sausage before following the cooking guide.

If you avoid beer

Choose the product with your dietary requirements in mind and check the full ingredient information before ordering. The Beer Bratwurst explicitly contains beer; I do not describe it as alcohol-free or gluten-free. Cooking at home is not a basis for making either claim. Contact us if you need an ingredient detail confirmed.
