These are meat-filled poppers, not the breaded cheese-only snacks that appear in many air-fryer instructions. I need the filling cooked through before the cheese becomes too dark.

Choose the right starting state

The Wagyu popper product currently specifies cooking from frozen. Keep the poppers frozen for that method and arrange them separately, filling facing up, on a rimmed tray. For the pork version, follow its supplied starting-state instructions; if none are supplied, thaw safely in the refrigerator and use the thawed method below. Remove all packaging. Do not assume both versions have the same size or filling structure.

Oven method

For separate frozen Wagyu poppers, start at 170°C fan / 190°C conventional. Allow roughly 20–30 minutes as a planning range, checking the largest filling centres earlier and extending as needed. For thawed pork poppers, begin checking from around 15 minutes; roughly 20–30 minutes may be needed for large pieces. Cover loosely with foil if the tops darken too quickly. Size and how tightly the filling is packed change the cooking time.

Air fryer and BBQ

Use a single layer at about 180°C in the air fryer. Begin checking at 12 minutes and allow extra time for frozen or large pieces; do not assume the oven timing transfers exactly. Keep filled sides upright. On a BBQ, use a tray over indirect heat with the lid down rather than exposing raw filling to fierce flames.

Check the meat, not just the cheese

Probe into the centre of the meat filling in several large poppers. Raw ground pork or beef needs at least 71.1°C (72°C on a whole-degree display). Melted, bubbling cheese is not proof of this. If any filling contains poultry, use 74°C.
